Electrical Conductivity

What is an electrical traffic manager needed for?

Large and extensive electrical installations require a legally designated director of operations, who is responsible for the safe use and maintenance of the equipment. The operation manager is registered with Tukes and acts as the electrical safety expert for the owner of the electrical equipment.

Responsibilities of the Electricity Manager

The Director of Operations will ensure that:

  • electrical equipment is used and maintained in accordance with the Electrical Safety Act
  • equipment remains in safe condition throughout its lifetime
  • the persons carrying out the operations are skilled and trained
  • any defects and deficiencies found are corrected without delay

The responsibility is personal and cannot be transferred by contract.

Tasks in practice

The work of the Operations Manager includes:

  • drawing up a maintenance programme and monitoring compliance with it
  • carrying out operational monitoring and periodic inspections
  • documentation of service and maintenance work
  • correcting and demonstrating what was found during inspections
  • maintaining drawings, diagrams and instructions for operation and maintenance
  • submitting notifications to the Tukes register

Management and control

The Operations Manager will manage the safe operation of the electrical installation and ensure that all maintenance, servicing and repair work is carried out safely. This role requires constant monitoring and professional supervision - spot checks alone are not enough.

The operations manager also ensures that those working on the installation have adequate training and that electrical safety is always under control.

Tabox Services offers the services of an operations manager for companies that are required to appoint a person responsible for their electrical installations.

Our service covers both the tasks required by law and practical support to ensure electrical safety.
